Good Afternoon Grant,
I just wanted to thank you for coming to our class (@ Bethel) and showing us what it is like to be a part of a TPRS classroom. You truly made me excited to be a teacher. When I was in grade school, I did NOT like learning languages. I was a Spanish student and I never saw any real cultural connection in my classes, nor did I realize all that you could do with a second language, especially with Spanish.
What excited me the most about the TPRS way of teaching is that students are already using real language, it seems like there would be less “translating before speaking” this way, would you agree? I was also surprised at how FUN and interactive the teaching style is, I imagine this is a great way to teach boys, once you can get beyond the coolness factor.
I have so many questions I would love to ask you, but my biggest question is this: how do you teach this from Day 1 (and first year teaching) and moving forward? What do you assign for homework? What does a summative assessment look like in your class?
I feel like a sponge when it comes to TPRS so anything that you have time to share with me I would gladly soak up.
